In Memphis, TN on June 25th thru July 2, 2006 Team Richmond competed for the 13U Div II National Championship. After two impressive wins over the DC Blazers and the Central Jersey Hawks and a 10 point loss to the Houston Flight this group of 9 Richmond area 13U Div II players finished 2-1 in pool play. This propelled them into the Championship bracket play as the second seed out of their pool . In the Championship bracket Team Richmond defeated the Chicago Ticks by 2 points in the first round, but suffered a disappointing 4 point loss to Beyond the Hoops Bull Dawgs in the second round. Bouncing back the next day they defeated the Laura Lee Bounce and the Flying Eagles out of Sacramento, CA on Saturday to advance to Championship Sunday to compete for the Sixth place in the Nation. On Sunday Team Richmond fell to the Reading Pals out of PA by 8 points to claim the 9th place in the Nation. Despite the loss, this gives the Team Richmond 13U Div II a automatic bid to the 14U Div II Nationals in Coco Beach FL in 2007 and the right to proclaim themselves as one of the Top 10 teams in the Nation Div II in 2006.
