RICHMOND, Va., (Dec. 15, 2015) -- Through the partnership of two great organizations,

Team Richmond and Garner Road Basketball Club are joining forces to expand their

respective youth basketball programs. The Alliance with the Raleigh, N.C.-based club

unifies both organizations to become one of the top organizations in the country.

Now known as Team Richmond – Garner Road, the organization will have a new look

and logo, and starting this season will be an Adidas sponsored team.

“We are building something very special,” said Team Richmond Elite 17U Head Coach

Del Harris. “We want high character coachable young men that want to play at the next

level, improve their fundamentals and play as a team. This partnership with the

Garner Road Basketball Club and Adidas is a boost, not only to my team,

but to the entire Team Richmond organization.”

Both Team Richmond and Garner Road have a long tradition of developing young men

on and off the court. Their similar missions include developing productive citizens in

the community through the game of basketball. Collectively the organizations have

produced a number of talented players at the Division I, II and III levels as well as

professionally  in the NBA and overseas.

“I am excited about the impact that the new Alliance will have on the Team Richmond family and on this community,” said Team Richmond’s Board of Directors Chair Arnold Henderson, who also serves as the 15U Head Coach. “The support of this alliance will go a long way in promoting our central mission of using basketball as a means of teaching young men life skills that they may apply to future challenges in their adult lives.”

Garner Road Basketball Club is celebrating its 26th year as a premier program. “I am excited about the new Alliance formed,” said Dwayne West, who manages the Garner Road Basketball Club. “With the merging of these entities, we will be able to impact kids, families and their futures in a big way. We are committed and loyal to all under the Garner Road Alliance. With a high benchmark for academics, character and athletic excellence, we will enhance the lives of many for a long time”
